RiteRest beta · Last updated October 2026
RiteRest is in early beta. This notice explains, in plain English, what information we handle while you use it, where it is kept and what choices you have.
Who we are
RiteRest is responsible (the “controller”) for the information described here. Company name, registered address and registration number: [to be confirmed]. Contact: use our contact page.
Your answers to our questions
When you answer the questions in a RiteRest journey (for example after someone has passed away, when someone is approaching end of life, or when you are planning ahead), your answers are used to build your route. Those answers are stored only in your own browser (in “local storage” on your device). They are not sent to our servers, not included in our statistics and not shared with service providers. You can remove them by clearing your browser’s site data. If you have created a demo account, the same applies — it is held in this browser only.
Funeral quote explainer
The quote explainer works differently from our journeys. If you choose to upload a funeral quote (PDF or photo) or paste its text, that quote leaves your browser: it is sent through our server to an AI model (currently an OpenAI model, accessed via the Lovable AI Gateway) solely to write the explanation you see. Please remove names, addresses and other personal details before submitting. RiteRest does not store the quote or the explanation in its database. How long the AI service providers may retain request data is set by their own terms [to be confirmed after legal review]. Your journey answers are never sent this way — they stay in your browser.
Anonymous usage statistics (only if you allow them)
If you choose “Allow anonymous statistics”, we record which pages and steps are used — for example “a journey was started”, “step 3 was shown” or “the Now section was viewed”. Each record has a random session code that lasts until you close the tab. We do not record your answers, names, addresses, free text or anything about the person who has died or is unwell. We don’t use advertising cookies, third-party analytics or fingerprinting. If you choose “No thanks”, nothing is recorded.
Feedback
At the end of a route you can tell us whether it helped and whether you feel clearer. These answers are stored with a random code, not your identity. The optional comment box may contain whatever you type, so we ask you not to include names or personal details. Comments are visible only to the RiteRest team.
Contact, provider interest and beta sign-up
If you send a message, register interest as a service provider, or join the beta list, we store the details you give us (such as name, email, business details and message) so we can reply or invite you to take part. Beta invitations are only sent if you tick the consent box. We do not send marketing to anyone else.
Why we can use this information
Our lawful bases [to be confirmed after legal review] are expected to be: your consent (anonymous statistics, beta contact); our legitimate interest in replying to messages and improving the service; and steps you ask us to take (provider enquiries).
How long we keep it
Retention periods are [to be confirmed]. Our intention is to keep beta feedback and statistics only for the beta evaluation, and to delete contact messages and sign-ups when they are no longer needed or when you ask us to.
Where it is stored
Messages, feedback, sign-ups and statistics are stored in our hosted database, accessible only to authorised RiteRest administrators. Our hosting providers may process data outside the UK; where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards [details to be confirmed].
Cookies and browser storage
- Strictly necessary: your journey answers, task progress and your statistics choice, kept in your browser so the service works.
- Optional: a random session code for anonymous statistics, only after you allow it.
- No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Change your choice at any time: .
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, object to its use, or withdraw consent at any time. Contact us through the contact page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
